Main process methods and key control points of coconut shell pyrolysis machine
Coconut shell carbonization (carbonization) is a technology that converts coconut shell into high value-added carbon products through pyrolysis. It is widely used in the production of activated carbon, fuel carbon and industrial raw materials. The following are the main process methods and key control points of coconut shell carbonization:

1.Classification of pyrolysis processes
According to different heating methods and equipment, coconut shell carbonization can be divided into the following processes:
①Traditional furnace carbonization
Principle: Pile coconut shells in a closed earth kiln, control the oxygen supply after ignition to make them slowly carbonize.
Features:
Temperature range: 300-600℃ (low and uneven).
Charcoal yield: 20%-30%, but the quality is unstable and the ash content is high.
Suitable for small-scale production, low cost but high pollution.

②Continuous rotary kiln carbonization
Principle: Coconut shells are constantly rolling in a tilted rotary kiln, and are evenly carbonized by heat.
Features:
Temperature range: 500-800℃, with precise temperature control.
Charcoal yield: 25%-35%, low volatile matter (<10%), suitable for high-quality charcoal production.
Suitable for industrial continuous production.

2.Pyrolysis process flow
Regardless of the equipment used, coconut shell carbonization usually includes the following steps:
①Raw material pretreatment
Crushing: Coconut shells are crushed to 2-5cm to improve pyrolysis uniformity.
Drying: Moisture content is controlled at <15% (too high will reduce thermal efficiency).
②Carbonization stage
Heating: Heating to the target temperature (usually 400-700℃) at 10-20℃/min.
Insulation: Maintain for 1-3 hours to ensure sufficient pyrolysis.
Atmosphere control: Oxygen-deficient environment (O₂<2%) to prevent combustion.
③ Cooling and collection
Quick cooling: Water cooling through a double-layer drum cooler to prevent spontaneous combustion of charcoal.
Product separation:
Solid charcoal: Screened and packaged (can be further activated to make activated carbon).
Combustible gas: Purified and recovered for heating of continuous carbonization furnace.
